Rykodisc
Rykodisc was founded in 1983 by Arthur Mann, Rob Simonds, Doug Lexa and Don Rose as the first CD-only music label. The name ‘Ryko,’ from the Japanese word meaning "sound from a flash of light," was chosen to reflect the company's CD-only policy. Ryko dedicated four years to CD-only releases from a wide variety of musical genres until they began releasing CD-Quality LPs and Cassettes. Rykodisc is notorious for its trademarked green-tinted jewel boxes, which the company began using in 1988. The label became part of Warner Music Group in 2006.
