Fred Myrow contributes balanced mixture of breezy tunes, rock rhythms, sparse orchestral underscoring to illuminate New York in decay. DEMON SEED is graphic woman vs. machine thriller starring Julie Christie. Jerry Fielding fashions challenging, other-worldly music for orchestra, electronics. Cues are developed from brief, sparse ideas, stretched and manipulated with array of effects. Major highlight: two intense, expressive orchestral cues late in score. Drawing from earlier ideas, Fielding melds dissonance with pleasant character, creates unique finale for otherwise terse score. Film Score Monthly presents both scores in stereo from original session elements, supplements them with customarily superb packaging, liner notes.
