La-La Land Records and Paramount Pictures present the world premiere release of acclaimed composer Nile Rodgers’ original motion picture score to the 1988 comedy classic COMING TO AMERICA, starring Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall and James Earl Jones, and directed by John Landis.
Long overdue, a score release of COMING TO AMERICA is finally here! For his second collaboration with the legendary Eddie Murphy following their hit TRADING PLACES, director John Landis needed a composer who could capture all the comedy, romance and cultural commentary, both broad and nuanced, that make COMING TO AMERICA such a beloved film. Famed music producer and musician Nile Rodgers (BEVERLY HILLS COP III) rose to the challenge with regal expertise, crafting an energetic, thematic score that blends African motifs, rock and funk flourishes, and classical orchestration.
Produced by Dan Goldwasser and mastered by Doug Schwartz, this special CD release, limited to 2000 units, features the film score presentation, including “She’s Your Queen to Be,” performed by Paul Bates, along with a bounty of bonus tracks and additional music showcasing versions of “Soul Glo,” performed by Christopher Max, as well as an exciting assortment of alternate score cues, demos and more. Exclusive, in-depth liner notes by author Jeff Bond feature new comments from composer Nile Rodgers and director John Landis. The art design is by Dan Goldwasser.
