    • Press Release from Screen Archives and Chelsea Rialto Studio:
Produced by David O. Selznick in 1936, LITTLE LORD FAUNTLEROY, based on the classic novel by Francis Hodgson Burnett, tells the tale of a Brooklyn lad who falls heir to the station and estate of his English grandfather. This initial production by fledgling studio Selznick International Pictures features music by Selznick’s friend and colleague Max Steiner, who was also musical director for the new company. Steiner’s music for this endearingly charming film underscores without overpowering the tender drama and the standout performances of Freddie Bartholomew, Dolores Costello Barrymore, and C. Aubrey Smith. Except for a missing short scherzo, the score is presented virtually in its entirety, and to showcase the exquisite marriage between music and drama, we offer a bonus track taken from a 35mm release print of the film.

The score was compiled almost entirely from optical tracks with excellent fidelity. In a few instances it was necessary to use acetate material. The package includes an 8 page booklet designed and with notes by CD producer Ray Faiola.
