Intrada announces a very special Charles Fox live performance album. Fox's career in music started with his playing piano and writing songs and arrangements for some of the great Latin bands of the '60s in NY. He released subsequent albums of these. With this new album, Fox includes some of those very songs that people have danced to over the years featuring new contemporary arrangements, along with some brand-new compositions. Although some of these songs overlap with Intrada's previous release for the documentary
Killing Me Softly with His Songs, the recordings featured on this album are live performances recorded in Havana as opposed to studio recordings done specifically for the album.
This music has lived on through the generations, with young people today in 20 or 30 countries dancing to music he recorded many years ago when Fox himself was in his 20s. Finding those online, Fox was inspired to get back to his first love in music and make this new album. He was then invited by the Cuban Minister of Culture to come to Havana to do some concerts of his Latin music. Producer Danny Gold seized this opportunity to bring a film crew to Havana to film these concerts and include footage in the documentary.
All the songs are composed by Fox; the Spanish lyrics are by a few different writers. Some the greatest Cuban musicians are featured in the band, including members of the most well-known and the legendary Cuban band of all, Orquesta Aragon.
