Press Release from Dragon's Domain:
Dragon’s Domain Records presents THE BRUCE BROUGHTON COLLECTION: VOL. 1, featuring music composed by Bruce Broughton (SILVERADO, TOMBSTONE, THE ORVILLE ) for two early scores from his extensive filmography.
Airing in 1981, ONE SHOE MAKES IT MURDER is a made-for-television motion picture starring Robert Mitchum, Angie Dickinson, and Mel Ferrer. The plot revolves around a casino mafia boss named Carl Charnock (Ferrer) who hires a downtrodden private eye named Harold Shillman (Mitchum) to locate Charnock’s wife Caroline. Her recovery was relatively easy for the seasoned detective; however, it appears he might have been set up as a pawn to witness her eventual suicide. Or was it murder? Perhaps the victim’s slippers hold the clues to revealing the truth?
Also airing in 1981 was KILLJOY, starring Kim Basinger, Robert Culp, and Stephen Macht. This dramatic soap-opera-esque hospital flick tells the torrid tale of the vicious murder of a young woman named Joy Morgan. A distraught ex-fling of the deceased named Lou Corbin (Culp) subsequently harasses Dr. Max Heller (Macht) who may have been cheating on his fiancé, Laury Medford (Basinger), with the recently murdered Morgan. A sizzling love-quadrangle ensues as other characters—who may or may not have had lustful relations with the slaughtered harlot—twist their way onto the pages of the crumpling narrative. Broughton was ultimately nominated for an Emmy for his score to KILLJOY.
Bruce Broughton, who has won ten Emmy Awards and been nominated for an Oscar, began his journey into film music in 1973, scoring episodes of television shows from GUNSMOKE, HAWAII FIVE-0, and DALLAS to JAG and THE ORVILLE, miniseries like THE BLUE AND THE GREY and THE OLD MAN AND THE SEA, and feature films such as SILVERADO, YOUNG SHERLOCK HOLMES, HARRY AND THE HENDERSONS, TOMBSTONE, and HONEY, I BLEW UP THE KID.
