Press Release from Music Box:
In collaboration with Yad Music, Music Box Records proudly presents two original motion picture soundtracks composed by Gabriel Yared in the 1980s: La Scarlatine (Scarlet Fever, 1983) and Tir à vue (Fire on Sight, 1984).
La Scarlatine, the first feature film directed by Gabriel Aghion, tells the story of a ten-year-old boy, surrounded by an almost exclusively female environment, changes when his mother meets a man. The score composed by Gabriel Yared mixes several moods: pre-war jazzy style, soul song, an electronic 80’s vibe and some romantic pieces in keeping with the spirit of this decrepit, once-luxurious house. The album also features the premiere release of Tir à vue, a movie directed by Marc Angelo, about two young deliquents committing robbery and murder. Programmed by his faithful collaborator Georges Rodi, Gabriel Yared’s music for this film mostly relies on synthesizers and other beatboxes that give it a very urban tone.
Supervised by Gabriel Yared, this present edition has been fully remastered from complete scoring session elements. The package includes a 8-page booklet featuring exclusive liner notes by writer Nicolas Magenham, discussing the films and the scores. This is a limited edition of 350 units.
