THANKSGIVING PROMISE, THE

Label: Intrada Special Collection Volume ISC 252
Date: 1986
Time: 0:57:50

World premiere release of Bruce Broughton soundtrack from Walt Disney television film directed by Beau Bridges, with director as star (plus other family members Lloyd Bridges, Jordan Bridges, Jeff Bridges), Millie Perkins, Jason Bateman. After accepting pay, then promising neighbor he would nurse injured turkey for one month and deliver it fattened, ready for dinner table, young boy struggles valiantly to save bird from fate. Bruce Broughton brings his rustic scoring sensibilities to family tale, anchoring with outdoor melody in folk manner, then adds layers of warmth, drama, humor. His palette of colors includes an array of strings, woodwinds, piano, guitars, dulcimer, recorder, harmonica, vibraphone plus light percussion. His harmonic vernacular basks in warm glow of his signature, beloved Americana idiom. Highlights are many but lengthy "Axing Chester" deserves spotlight: sequence is tense, dramatic with elements of danger, suspense. Entire CD presented in stereo from two-track scoring session masters vaulted in pristine condition. Bruce Broughton conducts. Intrada Special Collection release available while quantities and interest remain!

This title is 30% off through August 4, 2014 while supplies last - Regular Price $19.99
