Complete original Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack from third Rambo movie with Sylvester Stallone, Richard Crenna. Release on Scotti Brothers label offers songs with mere sampling of original score. Intrada CD presents entire 76-minute score mixed from digital session masters. For action in Afghanistan, composer provides all-new score with abundance of excitement. Dramatic four-note motif becomes launching pad for numerous themes, gives considerable degree of coherency in overall structure. New action theme for Rambo highlights device, often played by French horns, trumpets using striking parallel fifth intervals. Four notes also herald incredibly poignant melody for Afghanistan locale. Score links to previous two installments with recurring rhythmic material. Rich highlight: Goldsmith opens with haunting quote of original FIRST BLOOD "Homecoming" theme for trumpet and strings - not heard from in full since 1982 debut - then closes score proper with powerful farewell in definitive statement for trumpet over full orchestra. Lengthy, exciting - and never used - end titles follow. Jerry Goldsmith conducts Hungarian State Opera Orchestra. Same contents as 1989 Intrada release, now fully remastered with all-new packaging.
