Intrada CD presents entire 76-minute score mixed from digital session masters. For action in Afghanistan, composer provides all-new score with abundance of excitement. Dramatic four-note motif becomes launching pad for numerous themes, gives considerable degree of coherency in overall structure. New action theme for Rambo highlights device, often played by French horns, trumpets using striking parallel fifth intervals. Four notes also herald incredibly poignant melody for Afghanistan locale. Score links to previous two installments with recurring rhythmic material. Rich highlight: Goldsmith opens with haunting quote of original FIRST BLOOD "Homecoming" theme for trumpet and strings - not heard from in full since 1982 debut - then closes score proper with powerful farewell in definitive statement for trumpet over full orchestra.
