World premier release of powerhouse Joel McNeely soundtrack for Walt Disney outdoor action tale set in 17th century, starring Adam Beach, directed by Xavier Koller. Tale of Native American (Beach) taken prisoner by British troops inspires McNeely to create rich, evocative main theme with tinge of haunting sadness, then surround with dynamic action, colorful ideas for locale. Highlights are many but action cues certainly command attention! Another exciting highlight: McNeely actually composes full "End Credits" music to bring score to rewarding close! • Tech Talk From The Producer…

To present Joel McNeely’s dynamic and exciting score for Squanto: A Warrior’s Tale on CD for the first time, Intrada was given access to the complete digital session masters, comprising all of the live two-track stereo mixes spread out over four DATs made by veteran engineer and mixer Shawn Murphy at Todd-AO Scoring in March of 1994.

For the sessions, McNeely conducted his orchestral cues, then had sessions to record a significant number of “overdubs” with a small ensemble that included additional keyboards, flute and percussion. These overdubs were then mixed by Murphy on top of the orchestral tracks to create final mixes melding both distinct layers into one composite stereo mix showcasing both the large orchestral sonorities and the intimate ensemble colors. The results are one of the most vivid and flavorful orchestral scores to emerge from the nineties.

Intrada is proud to premiere this magnificent score through the kind permission of Walt Disney Pictures. Listeners will find in reward a score with sweeping outdoor themes, emotionally rich passages and—often taking the spotlight—wildly exciting and intense action sequences. Enjoy now the musical world of Joel McNeely and his powerful original score for Squanto: A Warrior’s Tale.
