Doug's Tech Talk
World premiere release of Georges Delerue soundtrack for sentimental Henry Winkler drama with Billy Crystal, JoBeth Williams, Alan King. Delerue creates brief but rich meld of evocative jazz (featuring trumpet artistry of Jack Sheldon) with signature warm & melancholy orchestral scoring. Intrada presents complete score from mint condition multi-track stereo session masters stored in MGM vaults, includes Beethoven excerpt conducted by Delerue for the film plus compelling notes by Richard Kraft reflecting on his own personal experiences with legendary composer. Georges Delerue conducts. Intrada Special Collection release limited to 1000 copies!

The score for Memories Of Me was recorded by John
Richards at Evergreen Studios, and the multi-track
session masters were then mixed by Richards into ½”
15 i.p.s. 4-track masters encoded with Dolby A. We
transferred these elements into Pro Tools and digitally
re-mixed them into a final two-track stereo master for
this CD. The audio quality was superb with a solid dynamic
range that required no further processing.
Several ad-lib trumpet solos were recorded by
Jack Sheldon in separate sessions, then over-dubbed
into the orchestral tracks. Happily, MGM had preserved
these separate takes as well, allowing us to include
them in these sparkling new mixes.
All of Delerue’s original music is here, including
both jazz sequences and orchestral cues. Interestingly,
the first orchestral cue Delerue recorded was his adaptation
of the Beethoven excerpt (track 3). It appears
here as well. Track titles are listed as per the MGM cue
sheets and session paperwork.
Composed and Conducted by Georges Delerue. Recorded on March 17 and 18, 1988, at Evergreen Recording Studios, Burbank, California.
