Original soundtrack from sci-fi video movie drawn from popular TV series, directed by Robert C. Cooper, starring Amanda Tapping, Ben Browder, Christopher Judge, Claudia Black, Beau Bridges. Joel Goldsmith writes for orchestra plus electronics, incorporates original STARGATE feature theme by David Arnold. Action, dramatic ideas get spotlight. One of many highlights: dramatic open-fifth motif of "Our Mission Begins" becomes bright fanfare-theme for "The Supergate". Neat device: Goldsmith uses meld of major-key harmonies, minor-key ones to anchor action material, then provides exciting rhythms underneath. Results are flashy sequences with rich, accessible music. Vibrant recording by Brian Valentino another big plus. Nice to have full orchestra playing front & center. Even chorus has say! Neal Acree provides additional music, Sir Hillary Grogsweed conducts Northwest Sinfonia.
