World premier of complete original soundtrack from Riccardo Freda costume epic about Jason and his Argonauts, starring Roland Carey, Ziva Rodann, Massimo Girotti. Carlo Rustichelli anchors vibrant score with large-scale heroic main theme, surrounds it with considerable array of smaller motifs. Unusual for historical epic themes, composer keeps melody in minor mode but gives it masculine weight by use of large male chorus with orchestra. Melodic idea recurs often, lends unity to entire score. Other ideas appear as well: sinuous love theme, elements of mystery, numerous quasi-religious motifs, dances, battle music, more. Rustichelli also offers quieter passages with spotlight on elegant female voice, organ, glockenspiel, delicate vibraphone effects, other neat ideas. Digitmovies offers complete score, lovingly restored from original mono elements (some minor imperfections remain) by Claudio Fuiano, handsomely produced by Luca Di Silverio.
