Patrick Doyle matches colorful adventure with energetic score for orchestra. Doyle avoids juvenile approach, offers solid action material, beautifully tender ideas in contrast. Harmonic language is accessible with neat shift between minor chords, major chords in equal parts getting much spotlight. Another neat characteristic: Doyle infuses entire score with a feeling of urgency. Results are music that moves at quick pace, rarely dawdles. James Shearman conducts Hollywood Studio Symphony.
