Original soundtrack from Michael Bay buddy cops action movie with Martin Lawrence, Will Smith. Mark Mancina creates driving score for orchestra with heavy meld of electronic rhythms throughout. Interestingly, Mancina keeps bulk of thematic material in minor key. When combined with lively rhythmic activity, resulting score has tinge of seriousness while still managing otherwise bright, over-the-top 1990's action vernacular. Generous liner notes add to handsome package. Curiously, audio mix sometimes plays in crisp stereo, other times essentially in mono. Nick Glennie-Smith contributes to composition, conducts everything. Limited edition of 3000 copies.
