Original soundtrack from Robin Swicord comedy/drama with Kathy Baker, Maria Bello, Lynn Redgave. Aaron Zigman creates gentle, tuneful score for modest ensemble (mostly electronic) that spotlights sounds of guitar, strings, piano, banjo. Additional color comes from accordion, solo clarinet, electronically produced marimba, sitar. Zigman melds reflective ideas with abundance of arpeggios, pizzicato devices, gives score degree of pace. Brief duration of most cues prevents musical development, instead allows light, quirky mood to prevail. Barebones packaging.
