Don Ellis avoids pop seventies flavor, writes extremely tough symphonic score for strings, percussion. CD also presents special release of unused Johnny Mandel work for same picture. Mandel offers charged, albeit more traditional concept of urban action tale. Minor deterioration in stereo elements appears but intrusions aren't severe.
