Original soundtrack from 1993 George Sluizer remake of his own 1988 Dutch thriller, starring Jeff Bridges, Kiefer Sutherland, Sandra Bullock. Jerry Goldsmith creates unusually transparent score, often drawn from tiny motifs, fragmented ideas. Use of minor second interval plays prominent role. Primary melodic interest begins with "Forever", adds element of wistful nostalgia. Of equal importance is orchestral timbre: strings, woodwinds, electronics dominate initial sequences, brass, tympani assume importance in latter sequences. Nick Redman produces, Julie Kirgo provides liner notes. Jerry Goldsmith conducts. Limited edition of 3000 copies.
