Bryan Tyler writes music to compete with sound effects: uncomplicated rhythm, electronic pulse, guitar and keyboards to the fore. Lengthy, thumping ride goes around the block many times, then just as welcome wears, changes fuel, offers dynamic, intense final action sequence for full orchestra (minus upper brass). Here, trombones pound, basses & celli surge, aggressive pulse-pounding orchestral music finally wins the day. This last lap makes admission price worthwhile! Bryan Tyler conducts.
