Original soundtrack from Australia TV mini-series set in 1890's port town, directed by George Miller, Pino Amenta. BSX label reissue augments 3 tracks from earlier CD compilations on ABC & Bay Cities labels, plus expands original LP by another 13 previously unreleased tracks to offer 25 cues in all. Bruce Rowland anchors with sunny, bucolic theme for meld of acoustic instruments and synthesizers. Guitar, flute, piano, string sounds dominate. In contrast with breezy style is warm, minor-key "Old Sea Captain" melody for flute over guitar. Entire score plays in flowing, forward-moving manner with abundance of arpeggios in guitar, piano against ever-unwinding melodic ideas. Complexity is absent, everything stays easy to swallow. Elegant booklet features liner notes by Randall Larson. Limited edition of 1000 copies.
