Original soundtrack from 2006 remake of sixties classic, now with Steve Martin filling Peter Sellers shoes as funny inspector Clouseau. Christophe Beck gets advantage of having equally-famous Henry Mancini tune to anchor score. Several sequences have energy, there's wit to burn, but when all's said and done, durable Mancini chestnut carries day. Nice to hear it with crisp state-of-the-art recording via Todd-AO & Sony facilities, Casey Stone at controls. Christophe Beck conducts.
