James Newton Howard scores for large orchestra, brings interesting angle: harmony plays as important a role as melody. Main motif plays as simultaneously ascending/descending line for low brass with emphasis on chords, secondary theme is expressive line also emphasizing rich harmony. Dynamic action music plays a role as does dense orchestral color, period is captured by occasional work from clarinet, trombone combo with orchestra. Pete Anthony, Mike Nowak, Bruce Babcock conduct.
