ANACONDAS: THE HUNT FOR THE BLOOD ORCHID
Label: Varese Sarabande 302 066 607 2 Date: 2004 Tracks: 20 Time = 61:05
Original soundtrack from Dwight Little thriller with Johnny Messner and big snakes carries intense, full-speed-ahead music by Nerida Tyson-Chew. Melody takes back seat to evocative rhythm, ethnic flute, dynamic symphonic action. "Predator in the Water" an aggressive highlight, "Climbing to the Light" another. Final "Face Off" a lengthy (11:14) tour-de-force. Tyson-Chew creates atmosphere of suspense with unique blend of shakuhachi, high strings. As suspense gives way to action, composer unleashes veritable onslaught of fierce brass, thundering percussion. Wild rhythms drive pace at sweat-inducing speed. Wins extra points for providing orchestra with virtuoso opportunity. Played by Studio Orchestra of Sydney, no conductor credited.
